Paris Day 4

Today was our last day in Paris. We had a few more things to check off our list before heading out of the city. First up was the catacombs. Although we had to wait in line for about an hour, the experience was totally worth it. Being surrounded by millions of bones was quite creepy but also very cool. We headed down a little over a hundred steps and down an underground boulevard before getting to the main attraction.

This was carved into the wall by a man who was later killed in a cave-in.

An underground well.

After the catacombs we took the metro to Notre Dame. Before going to the church we explored both the Conciergerie and the Notre Dame Archaeological Crypt. In Conciergerie we saw the cell that Marie Antoinette was held in before she was taken to have her head chopped off. In the Crypt we saw ancient Roman streets and a bath that were excavated under Notre Dame.

The inside of the cathedral was spectacular. The stained glass windows were so intricate and enormous.

We lit a candle for Abe's Great Aunt (who is a nun) and his Grandmother.

Dinner tonight was at Le Petit Cler on Rue Cler. It was tiny and adorable. I had the chicken sauté and it was delicious. Another recommendation for my friends coming to France in the next few months!

Tomorrow we have a really early start to get to the train station (6:20 AM, yuck...). We will be taking the train all the way to St. Jean, an almost 9 hour ride. We will spend the night in a hostel and then begin our walk early Saturday morning. We all have our backpacks packed and ready to go. I can't decide if I'm nervous or excited or terrified about beginning our 6 week walk. I'm looking forward to seeing how The Way will change me.
