Paris Day 1

We have arrived!! Yesterday our flight landed at 7:30 AM (Paris time) and we immediately jumped into exploring Paris. We took a three hour walking tour with a great company. This tour allowed us to get   a better understanding of the layout of the city. It was a very informative tour and at the end we paid what we felt was appropriate. The tour took us from the Seine to Pont Neuf and the Lourve and everywhere in between!

After the tour, we headed to the hotel to check in and take a quick nap. We then walked down the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. We got to go inside the Arc and walk the long spiral staircase all the way to the top. If you buy a museum pass this experience is included (I highly recommend buying this pass. We have already used it to get into many places!)

After exploring the Arc, we walked to the Eiffel Tower. We had previously made reservations to take the lift all the way to the top. I was quite terrified, however when we arrived, the view was breathtaking!

We drank some champagne at the bar at the top of the tower, which helped calm my nerves slightly. To my friends who will be visiting Paris in the next few months, this is one activity that you MUST do!

From the top of the tower we were able to observe riots that were going on after Paris's soccer team won a championship. They were yelling and singing and setting off flares. We avoided the crowd and made our way back to the hotel for supper. This morning on the news there were reports of vandalism from these same hooligans (as Uncle Steve likes to call them). They had burned cars and broken shop windows. Quite crazy!

Today we visited Versailles, and I'll blog more on that tomorrow!

Bon sua!!
